Hey there friends (I wrote *fiends* at first, which made me smile). 2026 is upon us and I'm glad to be showing paintings at many galleries here in Maine/Dawnland imminently. Here are the details of where and when.

First is Littlefield Gallery in Winter Harbor, where my incredible niece the painter Rose Edwards and I, alongside sculptor Laura Petrovich-Cheney, are the season-opener exhibit from May 22nd - June 21st. I have sixteen paintings there and the reception is Saturday the 30th of May from 4-6 p.m. This is one painting from the show (just sold, thank you!): harvest moon, Schoodic, Maine - oil/canvas, 20 x 20".

Then Landing Gallery in Rockland is hosting my annual June solo show. I delivered the paintings to the gallery last week, forty new panels and canvases from 2025 and early 2026. The show is called Fire and Ice and I'll be posting a statement about these paintings on my socials soon. The opening is on June 5th during the First Friday Art Walk and I'm planning to be there from 4-8 p.m. Here's a hot painting from the show, which I made during the cold winter just past: clearing the barrens, Stockton Springs, Maine - oil/panel, 24 x 48".

Whooosh! This is how change often rolls in, I feel. A sweeping curtain of smoke and flame. I saw this happen when I was a kid downeast and raked blueberries, and I've seen it a few miles from the home I live in today. In its favor, it's a cleansing kind of fire.

Next up are a group of about fifteen of my paintings called Return, in the season opener at George Marshall Store Gallery in York, alongside artists Alicia Ethridge, Trevor Toney, and Sarah Steedman. The opening reception is Saturday June 13th and the show dates are June 13th - July 19th. A painting of mine in the show:  white roses, Sylvester's Cove, Deer Isle, Maine - oil/panel, 12 x 9".

Then I have a good selection of paintings in a group show called Song of the Wild, in Wiscasset at Maine Art Gallery. I'm one of ten artists in the show (see the link for everyone), which runs from June 18th - July 26th, with the opening reception on Saturday June 20th from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Here's a painting from this show: one cloud over Job Island, from Pendleton Point, Islesboro, Maine - oil/panel, 8 x 8".

Last but not least, I have a few paintings at Thos. Moser in Freeport, as part of their gallery-wide exhibit for this summer and fall, entitled Dedicated to Art. The gallery is showing work that corresponds with articles and features about artists in the magazine Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors, many of which were written by Carl Little. This painting of mine is at Moser right now: May morning, east from Searsport, Maine - oil/panel, 10 x 10".

Phew, I think that's it for now! It's a busy time and I've worked hard over the last year to keep painting and showing my paintings on the regular. Thanks for reading and looking, here and at the galleries. Most of all I want to express my continuing gratitude and love to the gallerists and curators who select, show, and sell my work and the art of so many others: Jane and Kelly Littlefield, Bruce Busko and Roberta Baumann, Kate Rasche, Jane Dahmen and Emily Sabino, Steve Wyman and Meg Hurdman, and Carl Little. And to collectors and friends who choose and purchase, a huge thank you, you know who you are.

Sometimes I think of the art world as a rowboat and the good people rowing it are all of us together, taking turns at the oars. Let's stay afloat as best we can, and keep helping each other along the way. It's my great pleasure to make paintings with nature and have these products of my experiences outside and in the studio go out into the world and continue their wild lives in a new way. Peace.
